Opened on 7 June, Lickety is the next new concept store by the people behind Fika and Konditori. Our  cries for desserts by the popular Fika have finally been heard.  

Their famous Halal egglets are actually a modern rendition of Belgian waffles. Each egglet is packed in a pretty box with shades of white and pale sea foam. Before you tuck in, you should expect a buttery and fluffy texture similar to that of Belgian waffles, instead of the usual eggy fragrance and crispy interior. You can customise your egglet by adding ice cream and toppings of your choice. Toppings include rainbow sprinkles, gem biscuit, pocky stick, oreo biscuits and more (50 cents/topping)!

We opted for the buttermilk and red velvet flavoured egglet. We loved the fluffy and moist interior of the warm egglet, which pairs excellently with a scoop of ice cream. As mentioned earlier, the taste and texture resembles that of Belgian waffle instead of the Hong Kong Egglets.

You can even choose up to three scoops of ice cream for your egglet ($4.50/scoop, $7.90/2 scoops, $8.90/3 scoops). We tam chiak right so we just swoop up three big scoops – Cookies & Cream, Dark Angel and Bubblegum ice cream. The sweet cookies and cream and bubblegum flavours delivered a stark contrast to the bittersweet Dark Angel, which is a homemade dark chocolate concoction.

Lickety may be dressed in a girly, pastel theme but this snug spot will please even the boys. Be prepared to get your hands dirty as you reach the bottom of the egglet. I hope you love Lickety’s egglets as much as we did.
