Nestled within an unassuming residential coffeeshop is an old school Western food stall. The appearance of the stall and the prices may make you think twice about order from here initially, but you’ll definitely find that you’re getting your money’s worth. The portion is huge and the food is good!

Ubi 325’s classic Black Pepper Chicken Chop ($6.50) will never go wrong. The charcoal grill lent a lovely smokiness to the meat, and the black pepper sauce was not too overpowering. Its perfect for me because I don’t really like black pepper. I love the chicken thigh which was juicy and tender! The side were all pretty average, your standard Western stall side dishes, but the portions were more than adequate. Four sides and a huge slab of chicken chop for just $6.50? I’m sold.

If there is only one thing that will make me travel from my office to this Ubi coffeeshop, it will be Ubi 325’s chicken cutlet! The breaded exterior, which was golden brown and crisp, gave way with an audible crunch, when I cut into it. I do not know what was used to marinate the meat, but it was flavoursome!

Wow, codfish! This is my first time coming across a hawker Western food stall offering codfish, because the cost of codfish is much higher than a typical dory fish. Ubi 325’s Codfish Fillet, which consisted of 2 long fillets of sweet and soft cod, ($7) was super value-for-money! It has a better texture than dory, in my opinion, and I like that batter was not too thick.

There are actually quite a handful of old school Western food stalls all over Singapore, but it’s rare to find one that scores above average for most of its dishes. Ubi 325 would score even higher if the fries were crisp. So glad I manage to find this hidden gem, and I actually have cravings for at least once a fortnight! The stall offers an extensive amount of fried finger food on its menu too. If you’ve tried it, let us know which is your favourite dish!
